Ever think you can’t get family photos taken because your kids may not cooperate or behave? Well, that’s how this mom felt. But, it all turned out great. Shooting outside is really nice because the kids can have more flexibility to play. I’d rather shoot them being goofy than posing and looking stressed anyway. So, that’s what we did … some posing, some playing. I think they had fun and now they have photos that capture the silly boy-ness of these guys.
I’m getting more and more comfortable shooting in the bright sun of midday. Many photographers will tell you that it can’t be done and that’s what I believed for years. But, I’ve been studying and practicing and I’m loving the results. It brings a different light quality to the photos and I’m really liking it. It’s also much more convenient for families with small children. I used to do all of my family sessions first thing in the morning or just before sunset. But, getting little ones ready early is stressful and the sun sets so late in the summer, that you are really pressing your luck with small kids. So, these midday sessions have been working out great. I’m continuing to scout locations which have great light when the sun is high in the sky to use these skills even more.
Check out these boys eyes … absolutely gorgeous! They look like little models. Many photoshop tutorials will tell you to darken the ring around someone’s eye to make it pop and look prettier. Well, I did nothing to these amazing eyes. They have those natural dark edges making them so striking.
